FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION (FGD), Development of the Curriculum of the Department of Economics FE UNAND in response to RI 4.0 and Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) with Stake-holers: TNP2K Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Dr. Ardi Adji), Bank Indonesia - Jakarta ( Dr. Imaduddin Sahabat), SMERU Institute (Dr. Asep Suryahadi), PT. Asuransi Bangun Askrida (Abdul Mulki) and the Indonesian Embassy in Chicago, United States of America (Jorrie Andrean, SE, MSc.). Together with lecturers and the Academic Community of the Faculty of Economics, UNAND, 10 July 2021.

Some important notes from the meeting were that graduates of the Department of Economics, FE UNAND, whether they were Bachelor programs, Masters Programs, and Doctoral Programs in Economics needed to strengthen competence in the field of science in accordance with developments in the global context, able to respond to changes in community needs for economic development.

Department of Economics, Andalas University held a Guest Lecture with Prof. Iwan Jaya Azis (Cornell University, Ithaca. NY, U.S.A) with the theme: "COMPLEXITY MACROECONOMICS IN NEW NORMAL". This lecture was officially opened by the Chancellor of Universitas Andalas Prof. Dr. Yuliandri and Speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Andalas, Dr. Efa Yonnedi, SE, MPPM, Akt, CA, Ph. D. The lecture lasted approximately 120 minutes was moderated by the Head of the Department of Economics, Universitas Andalas Dr. Fajri Muharja. 

Some of the main conclusions from this lecture state that the rapid change and development of current global economic conditions requires adjustment and development of existing economic theory. This requires universities to produce economists who are capable and have competence in analyzing changes in the increasingly challenging global economy. 

This online lecture was attended by students and lecturers of the Bachelor Program, Master's Program and Doctoral Program in Economics, Universitas Andalas, and other economic observers.

Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Andalas held the 1st Andalas Economics Series Seminar (1st AESS) on August 14, 2021 using the Zoom Application platform. This seminar with the main speaker is Universitas Andalas Senior Economist Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Karimi and principal investigator of the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) at the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. The theme raised in this seminar is the Covid 19 Pandemic, Poverty, and National Economic Growth. This event was moderated by the Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics, Andalas University, Dr. Fajri Muharja. This event was attended by approximately 100 participants from students, lecturers, and government agencies spread across Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua. (FM01)
